2009

London, 10th July, 2009 – Following a life changing journey for all of the students involved in the food industry's most highly esteemed Nestlé Toque d'Or® awards - Nestlé Professional® announces North Devon College as the winner of this year's coveted prize.
Celebrating its 21st birthday, Nestlé Toque d'Or® continues to scale new heights in rewarding the next generation of industry talent and is recognised as one of the most challenging competitions in the industry. Previous celebrity chef participants include Anton Mosimann, James Martin and Jamie Oliver - all representing some of the finest talent in the profession.
The winning team of six rising stars were presented with their award at a glittering awards ceremony at indigo2 at The O2 arena, London on 10th July.
The Grand Finals held at the BBC Good Food Show Summer in June, saw North Devon College bring its inspirational "Devine" concept restaurant to life both back and front of house. Wowing the judges with a dining experience to remember, the team served 100 covers using the CHEF® range of fonds, fumets and jus, ... with Nescafé® Roma™ coffee to finish.
David Field, Managing Director, Nestlé Professional® commented, "Congratulations to North Devon College - the team is a shining example of the raw talent that we are so keen to identify and nurture through initiatives like Nestlé Toque d'Or®. Celebrating its 21st birthday is a testament to the competition's prestige and continued recognition across the industry - not least this year's involvement with Chairman of Judges James Tanner alongside the support from some of the industry's best Michelin-starred chefs."
"For many previous winners the competition has provided a springboard for their careers and shaped the future of things to come. I am certain that many of the faces we've seen this year will be inspiring and leading the industry in the years ahead."
