"As the renowned Nestlé Toque d'Or celebrates its 21st year I would like to extend a personal invitation to the many catering colleges in the UK to take part in the 2009 competition.
From the outset Toque d'Or has set the standard for aspiring chefs and front of house teams in catering colleges, giving students free rein to express their imagination and creativity by devising a restaurant theme and ultimately, if they get it right, of implementing their 'place to eat' in a commercial environment and wowing the public.
Toque d'Or gives leading catering colleges the opportunity to prove their worth and significance by displaying their teaching excellence to the industry. It's also a unique platform for students who have drive, enthusiasm and talent to prove their abilities in the commercial world - and these are the kind of people we want in our industry."
